I'm new to this whole site and I'm just wondering, how do you know if the drugs you get aren't poison or how do you know if the sellers aren't cops or feds? How do you know that the package that's being sent to you won't get found out and you might get in trouble???
-
Seller feedback, and escrow. If it kills you you can't finalize transaction, if it's bunk you'll leave bad feedback.
-
There as been no poison shipped from Silk Road that I am of aware of.
-
how do you know a bus will not hit you tomorrow
-
Lol, good point. But I really don't want to get caught and I don't want to get some poison or shit xD

What's escrow?
-
What's escrow?
Oh geez. :-\
-
your mom is escrow ;)
-
"Escrow generally refers to money held by a third-party on behalf of transacting parties." Is that what you're talking about?
-
If you're new to the site, what you need to do is look through the forums, read up about what this place is, do that work yourself.
If you have questions after you've done your research, THEN you ask them here.

Escrow is where you send your bitcoins to (aka) my e-wallet. PM for me for the address.

No now happytree.
Esrow is where you bitcoins go after you place an order on SR until your package arrives when it arrives you finalize the transaction. and release your bitcoins from escrow to your vendor which sent you your product.
Seriously go to the Silk Road Marketplace site and read the guidelines for using the site in the correct manner.

escrow is where i take off all my clothes, punch you in the face, and scream like a banshee ;D
-
escrow is that thing where you take a midget and three fried eggs and you pile them into the middle of your floor and glare at them while the cable guy squirts you with rubbing alcohol ::)

Yes. o.O

I asked one of the vendors here if they accept payment any other way other than bitcoin, and he said Paypal. Is it safe to use Paypal instead?

in all seriousness, anything that is not bitcoin has a higher risk of being traced back to you. paypal would create an electronic paper trail from your bank or credit card (and valid email address) directly to that persons paypal account, which is linked directly to his or her bank account. now, theres no proof that its for drugs, or whatever you want to buy, but its still linking you to that person... also, as a buyer, bitcoin is the only method that allows you the courtesy of escrow (which, if you havent figured it out, allows silk road to hold your funds as a sort of deposit until you receive your package, at which point you can release them to the seller or get them back if it never shows). paypal always leaves you open to never receiving your package AND it makes it so that you cant leave seller feedback for the other buyers. its really ideal for scammers b/c they dont care if theyre paper trailed to a person that WANTS drugs, they probly dont have any drugs themselves in the first place, and the only way u can bitch about them is on the forums, at which point its too late cuz they already hav your money and hav moved on to some other pathetic penny-grasping scheme. in other words, paypal doesnt guarantee that things will turn out badly for you, via cops, scammers, or otherwise... but it makes it a HELL of a lot more likely... hope i helped! ~love, smod

@nomad - Any plans for a "one-stop" definitive FAQ that can be conveniently pasted into question threads like this? Newbies absolutely need a place to get the right information and it's understandable for seasoned users to feel frustrated answering the same questions 100x, not to mention the waste of resources (sorry I'm an economics guy).

Honestly, no I have not thought up a F.A.Q. for this section of the forums.
Also anyone who wants to help write one up is welcome.
I'll Sticky and Contribute to the F.A.Q. as much as I can but I'm working 18+ hours a day on these forums as it is.

Sure, I understand. I'd definitely contribute where I could. One point is that I don't really see "uber1337hax" question as an issue of drug safety, per se. It's more a question of "How does SR work? How do I know I'm getting what I order". It only becomes drug safety when you phrase it like "How do I know someone won't send me poison?" and even then it's more a question of buyer confidence...
